KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 29

Bimalendra Nidhi, the Nepali Congress's Vice President, has been named acting president of the party.

He was given the task after NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba left for the United Kingdom today to attend the 26th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change's World Leaders' Summit (COP26).

According to Krishna Prasad Poudel, Chief Secretary of the NC Party Office, President Deuba appointed Nidhi as acting president in accordance with Article 25 (13) of the Nepali Congress Statute, 2017 (with amendment) till he comes home.
