BIMSTEC summit fruitful: Oli

Kathmandu, September 3

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today said the fourth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation held in Kathmandu on August 30 and 31 was fruitful in terms of both the decisions taken during the summit and its successful organisation.

He said talks were held on power export and energy cooperation, especially with India and Bangladesh. “We will not only be able to export our energy to India and Bangladesh, but also to Myanmar and Thailand,” he said, addressing the last meeting of the BIMSTEC summit organising committee which he chaired.

He also said the government held talks in the summit keeping at centre the interests of Nepal and the Nepali people, according to Oli’s secretariat.

The PM also thanked government employees, security forces and others for their contribution to make the summit a success.

“I would also like to thank the residents who supported the government’s initiative despite facing traffic jams,” he said.
