Bir Hospital to launch new service
Kathmandu, March 23
Bir Hospital is launching fibroscan test service for liver patients. The fibroscan machine helps diagnose various liver diseases more accurately.
The machine will be the first of its kind to be launched at a government hospital. “We have decided to bring the machine as there are quite a number of patients suffering from liver diseases. It will be helpful for the people to know about the condition of their liver,” said Dr Bhupendra Kumar Basnet, director at Bir Hospital.
Fibroscan is used to detect the amount of fat in liver. The method is not only cheaper and non-invasive, but is also reliable for diagnosing liver diseases. “Though necessary preparation has been completed, we are yet to train medical practitioners for the purpose,” Dr Basnet added.
