Nepali Congress and CPN-UML observed the BP and Pushpa Lal Memorial Day by organising various functions and talk programmes here today.

The NC held a function at the Sundarijal Detention Centre, where BP Koirala was detained for eight years after the 1960 royal coup. The day saw leaders from both the parties hailing their leaders and issuing a call for total democracy, which both the leaders fought for. Addressing a function here, NC general secretary Ram Chandra Paudel demanded that a meeting of the Mahasamiti of the NC be held for leading the party towards a republic. CPN-UML leaders shed light on the life and times of Pushpa Lal.
