British PMs special rep here

KATHMANDU: The British Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Peacebuilding, Jack McConnell, arrived here today on a three-day visit.

“He brings personal letters for PM Madhav Kumar Nepal and UCPN-M chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ from the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown,” the British Embassy said here today. McConnell is scheduled to meet the two leaders here during his visit. According to the embassy, the official will meet civil society members, political leaders, and international donors “and will gain a first hand perspective of the impact of the UK’s support to peace and development here.”McConnell will also pay a call on Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong.
