CA polls should take place at any cost, says CP Gajurel

Kathmandu, December 5:

Chief of the CPN-Maoist Foreign Relations Department, CP Gajurel, today said the election to the Constituent Assembly should take place at any cost.

Speaking at a programme organised by Reporters’ Club Nepal today, he said it is the stated view of the international community that the peace process should be given continuity and that the unity among the seven political parties should remain intact.

He said it is the responsibility of the government to implement the proposals passed by the

Parliament. He also called for providing relief to the families of the martyrs and making public the whereabouts of the missing people.

Central member of the Nepali Congress Dr Shekhar Koirala said that since the Nepali Congress is a political party that believes in democracy, it has the principle of moving ahead as per the constitution and abiding by the provisions enshrined in it. He said although the NC is positive on the proposition of declaring republic from the Parliament now to be ratified and implemented later, it is always against the fully proportional election system.
