Cabinet decides to address Dr KC’s genuine demands

Kathmandu, September 1

The Social Committee of the Cabinet today decided to address the genuine demands of Dr Govinda KC.

The meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Bam Dev Gautam, nevertheless, stated that restrictive demands cannot be addressed as the government can’t introduce prohibitory rules.

Dr KC has been staging fast-unto-death demanding full implementation of the recommendations of the high-level taskforce led by former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Kedar Bhakta Mathema.

Dr Yagya Bahadur Karki, a member of the National Planning Commission, who was present during the four-hour long meeting held at PM’s Office this evening, the body decided that medical colleges would not be allowed to charge over Rs 3.5 million to students.
