Call to book ‘rapist’ cop

Kathmandu, October 8:

The All Nepal Women’s Association-Revolutionary (ANWA-R) held a programme today to expose the ‘crime’ that Madhav Thapa had committed when he was a DSP. The ANWA-R accused Thapa and his team of raping Devi Khadka, presently an MP.

Urging the government to punish Thapa, women marched from Dhumbarahi towards Thapa’s residence, where a number of policemen were on standby. The agitating women organised a corner meet near the residence of Thapa. Tara Gharti, a central secretariat member of the ANWA-R, addressed the meet. Parvati Thapa, an ANWA-R member, said the programme was organised to put pressure on the government to punish the guilty.

“Madhav Thapa’s vowed to help the ANWA-R punish Thapa if the charge was genuine and the victim was there to prove it,” she said, adding that MP Khadka could not attend the function as she was in Sindhupalchowk.

Thapa also accused the then inspector, Rajendra Adhikary, of raping Bagmati Thapa and her daughter Dibyajyoti Thapa at a police station.
