Kathmandu, July 21:

The Working Journalists’ Struggle Committee (WJSC) today threatened the managements of Channel Nepal Television and Rajdhani Daily that the main offices of the two media houses would be padlocked if the managements did not reinstate and compensate media persons they had sacked during the king’s direct rule as per the agreements made between the media houses, sacked media persons and representatives of the FNJ and the WJSC.

“If the agreements are not implemented within the agreed time frame, we will launch strong protest programmes in cooperation with all the trade unions,” the WJSC said in a press release.

In the agreements made on June 27 and 28, the two media houses had promised to implement the Working Journalist Act 2051, the WJSC said. Stating that it had taken the indifference shown by the media houses as an affront to the peaceful movement, the WJSC urged the media houses to live up to their commitments.
