Capable of holding polls if dates fixed on time: CEC Yadav
KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has said that the Election Commission was capable of holding local, provincial and federal elections if the government decided on the date and formulated required laws on time.
Yadav stated so in an interaction held at the Reporters' Club in the Capital on Wednesday.
Recalling the successful two Constituent Assembly elections held by the Commission, Yadav stated that elections play a vital role in competitive multi-party governance system.
The EC Chief also informed that the constitutional body had already drafted necessary plans to hold all three elections by January 21, 2018, which is the date set by the Constitution to complete the polls.
To ensure maximum voters' turnout, Yadav stated that the Commission was working on implementation of the 'Voter Education'.
The government should fully cooperate with the EC it wanted to ensure success of the elections, he demanded.
