Ranibari shootout
KATHMANDU: DIG Bigyan Raj Sharma, spokesperson, Nepal Police on Friday said the security forces are tracing the assailants who shot at Managing Director of Bharatpur Medical College Nagender K Pampati. They were two in numbers when the incident occurred. A pillion-rider on a black Pulsar had fired a shot at Pampati soon but missed the target after he got off his Range Rover car (Ba 6 Cha 9999) in front of his rented house in Ranibari on Tuesday evening. However, no one was hurt in the shoot-out. “We are on the track of assailants and they would be brought to justice very soon,” he informed without giving further details.
AIG Timsina grilled
KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Headquarters has sought clarification from AIG Kalyan Timsina for his alleged role in robbing US$ 300,000 from Chinese businessmen on December, 2009. A probe committee constituted to look into the case had submitted it report two months ago which found Timsina and two other junior officials guilty of forcibly seizing the money. The report, however, is yet to be made public. NP has already sent two officials behind the bar, letting AIG Timsina loose. He was Metropolitan Police Commissioner when the incident occurred and was transferred to Police Training Academy later.
Norvic gets new ward
KATHMANDU: Norvic Hospital has added a new emergency department following a surge in demand for quality healthcare from the general public. A press statement issued by the hospital today said the ward has been made possible through the contribution of Sri Lunkaran Das Chaudhary, the founder chairperson of Chaudhary Group, in the name of his mother. The state-of-the-art emergency ward receives critical patients from the ambulances directly. The emergency has a facility for minor OT and surgery. The statement added that the emergency room is equipped with monitored bed, all critical care equipment, centralised oxygen, vacuum, ventilator, defibrillator, portable X -ray, portable USG, adjacent CT Scan and a pathology lab to meet critical care requirements.
