German aid for school

KATHMANDU: Charge'd Affairs of the German Embassy Nobert Meyer on Saturday inaugurated the school building of Shree Janata Higher Secondary School at Gurung Chauri, Thokshila VDC- 7 in Udayapur district. The building was constructed under the Small Scale Project Funding (SSPF) at a cost of Rs 682, 500.The SSPF covered around 88 per cent of the total cost while the locals contributed the rest in cash and kind. The new building is expected to benefit around 1,000 students of the school. Construction of school building was one among various projects supported by Germany at the community level, said Meyer while inaugurating the building.

Fire kills child

KATHMANDU: Nanu Devkota, a four-month-old child, was burnt to death when a fire broke out in her house at Sangla VDC- 2, Kathmandu on Friday evening. While property worth Rs 600,000 was gutted, reported the police. The fire was said to have originated from a lit candle in the kitchen.

Couple injured

KATHMANDU: Nawaraj Thapa and Uttara Thapa, hailing from Bhadrabas VDC- 1 of Kathmandu were critically injured when a gang of unidentified persons attacked them with a khukuri. The assailants had pounced upon them in their home on Friday night. The injured have been taken to TU Teaching Hospital for treatment. A manhunt have been launched to track down the assailants, the police said.

One killed in mishap

KATHMANDU: A motorcyclist was killed when a tripper hit the two-wheeler he was riding on in Janagal- 1 of Kavre on Saturday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Bijaya Raj Kunwar (19), a resident of Balaju, Kathmandu. The Following the incident, the locals have blocked the Araniko highway to protest the 'alleged killing'. The police have arrested the driver of the tripper in custody.

Two found dead

KATHMANDU: A man, in his 40s, was found dead on the barren land of Green Hill Boarding School in Dakshinkali- 1, Kathmandu on Friday. The identity of the deceased is yet to be known, the police said. Meanwhile, Damodar Thapa (40), hailing from Bagdole of Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City- 2 was found dead at Pratima Chowk in Dakshinkali-1. Investigations into the cases was underway, informed the police.
