Celebrities to drive fire trucks to promote tourism in Nepal

A US-based entrepreneur with help from Nepal Tourism Board is planning to bring 10 American fire trucks to Nepal. Preparations are on to bring the used American fire trucks by March 2018.
The Nepal Fire Truck Expedition had launched a crowd-funding campaign with a goal to raise $200,000 for shipping the fire trucks and financing the expedition, as well for creating a compelling feature-length documentary about the expedition as it made its way through Nepal.
According to the entrepreneur, transporting of trucks from Birgunj to Kathmandu will be made a huge event with the participation of Hollywood celebrities and celebrities from Nepal. The celebrities will drive the trucks to Kathmandu from Birgunj. The fire trucks will be first brought to India on a cargo ship from USA. From India the trucks will be brought to Nepal border via train.
Michael Kobold, writer of ‘Nepal Needs Fire Trucks’ and the organiser of event said, “We want to draw the attention of the world to Nepal by inviting world famous celebrities from Europe, India, Thailand and the USA. We want the people to know about Nepal through these celebrities.”
The organisers have also claimed that they will make a documentary on transportation in Nepal. Nepal Tourism Board has pledged Rs 20 million to support the programme. Kobold said he was also hoping to invite celebrities like Johhny Depp, Bradd Pitt, Lady Gaga and Salman Khan among others. He said, Bollywood stars such as Manisha Koirala, Rajesh Hamal and Sunil Thapa, are joining international actors like Malcolm McDowell, Michael Imperioli and Scott Glenn, Musicstars Nuno Bettencourt, from the rock band Extreme, and Chris Adler from Lamb of God, as well as the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner would also drive the fire trucks. Kobold had been planning the expedition since 2010 but the event was postponed due to various reasons.
