KATHMANDU, MAY 12
Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called on all citizens to rally behind the goal of establishing a socialist republic in Nepal.
Addressing the first convention of the Young Communist League (YCL) Karnali Province Committee in Birendranagar on Monday, Dahal emphasized that the CPN (Maoist Centre) remains steadfast in its campaign for socialism and announced plans to intensify the movement.
Criticizing the government for excluding the 'Karnali Prosperous Programme' from its policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year, he accused it of discriminating against the people of Karnali and undermining their rights.
The former Prime Minister further stated that under the leadership of the Maoist Centre, the government had worked to enhance Nepal's image and the dignity of its people on the international stage.
Dahal reiterated that Karnali holds historic importance as the epicenter of Nepal's revolutionary movements and reaffirmed the party's long-standing commitment to the province's development and prosperity.
Highlighting the need for constitutional reform, he stressed the importance of ensuring inclusive representation of marginalized communities, including Dalits, women, Madhesis, Tharus, Muslims, and indigenous nationalities. "We advocate for a governance system with a directly elected executive head. The current electoral system is expensive, unrepresentative, and alienates the people," he said.
The two-day conference is being attended by 718 representatives from ward levels across all 10 districts of Karnali Province.
