Chargesheet filed against abduction bid

KATHMANDU: A chargesheet has been lodged in the Kathmandu District Court against attempted abduction of former princess Prerana

Rajya Laxmi Devi Singh on November 11.

Registering the case, the prosecutor sought sentence for the accused — Pratikshya Ratna Shah and Rajesh Hamal alias Raju — to the largest possible extent. The duo had sought Rs 10 million ransom from her.

The accused had threatened to kill her husband Raj Bahadur Singh and her son if they failed to pay the ransom. Sending a text message on Prerana’s mobile, Rajesh Hamal had sought the ransom.

The prosecutors sought a seven-year jail term

for the accused, who

made a failed attempt to abduct her, demanding ransom. Up to 15 years of jail term might be slapped, as per Section 5 and 6 of the Abduction Chapter of Muluki Ain 1963 if the crime proved.Stating that both the accused were involved in the crime, the prosecutors sought punishment for them.

Sending a text message from his mobile on November 11, Rajesh Hamal had demanded the ransom.

On November 15, he sent a message again to threaten them not to inform the police or face consequences. The police investigation found that the duo were having affair and were to marry.
