KATHMANDU: A child drowned in a pond at a brick kiln in Sundal, Mahamanjushree-5 of Bhaktapur on Friday.

Aashika Moktan (3), daughter of Sangram Moktan, a resident of Narayan Khola-6 of Sarlahi district, had fallen into a pond at the Shankar Brick Kiln, where her father would work, according to police.

The child had fallen unconscious after the incident and breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the Siddhi Smriti Hospital, police said.

Further investigation is underway.
