Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chang Maoming, today paid a courtesy call on Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel.
During the meeting held at the minister's office in Singha Durbar, the two sides exchanged views on China's support and cooperation in Nepal's education, science and technology, and sports sectors.
The discussions focused on school infrastructure development, the institutionalisation of digital systems in teaching and learning, and other contemporary issues.
They also discussed Nepal–China historical relations, along with areas of mutual cooperation and collaboration, according to the minister's private secretariat.
Minister Pokharel, who also serves as the government spokesperson, expressed the government's interest in further strengthening school infrastructure, advancing digitalisation in education, and enhancing partnerships with China.
He also highlighted the need to expedite Chinese-funded projects in Nepal's education sector and to expand scholarship opportunities for Nepali students in China based on their interests.
In response, the Chinese Ambassador expressed China's willingness to continue cooperation with Nepal in these areas. Both sides agreed to further deepen mutual engagement and strengthen multidimensional bilateral relations, the statement said.
