KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 27
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case in the Special Court against nine individuals, including the then deputy mayor and the chief administrative officer of Ramdhuni municipality in Sunsari district.
They are accused of financial irregularities related to a road construction project.
The individuals facing charges include the municipality's then deputy mayor, Sani Kumari Chaudhary; chief administrative officer, Omkar Prasad Neupane; account officer, Dwarika Prasad Dahal; engineer, Devendra Narayan Chaudhary; and sub-engineer, Harshalal Chaudhary, all of whom are alleged to have misappropriated funds, as stated by CIAA Spokesperson Bhola Dahal.
The CIAA is seeking imprisonment and fines against them under Clause 19 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-2059 BS (2002). Similarly, Raj Kumar Chaudhary, the ward chair of Ramdhuni municipality-3; ward member Tikalaxmi Shrestha; Planning Section employee Sunil Kumar Chaudhary; and Nanu Kumari Niraula, the proprietor of Jalpa Sidhha Construction Service in Pakali, also face charges in the same case.
