CIAA nets tainted officer
Kathmandu, May 7:
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today arrested a section officer of the Department of Transport Management, Gopal Khadka, who issued a licence to a person after the latter paid him Rs 10,000.
The person had submitted a fake application and not given trial. “Khadka will be prosecuted in the Special Court,” a CIAA source said.
The CIAA also arrested agent Raj Acharya, who helped the person get the licence. Khadka and Acharya in the custody of the CIAA.
Yesterday, the CIAA arrested a non-gazetted officer of the Lalitpur District Administration Office, Arjun Kumar Ghimire, while he was taking bribe. Ghimire was caught while he was taking Rs 10,000 from a person of Okhaldhunga district to issue him a passport with an illegal internal migration certificate.
