Police said the chances of tracing the person(s) responsible for leaking question papers of Province 2 Secondary Education Examinations were very slim.

The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, which formed two probe panels — one in Kathmandu and the other in Province 2 — to investigate question papers leak, admitted that it had become an uphill task for police to track down the culprits as the question papers were circulated on social networking sites.

“Due to lack of experts, lack of advanced technology to retrieve information about internet users and other technical issues related with social media, it is almost impossible to reach to identify the person who first uploaded the question papers on social sites,” shared Spokesperson for CIB SP Uma Prasad Chaturbedi.

The question papers were circulated on WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook and Imo.

SP Chaturbedi said CIB was required to make a request in writing to the headquarters of all those social networking sites in order to get the details of the people uploading question papers. “Headquarters of different social media sites are in different countries and we don’t have direct access to them,” he added.

Province 2 has not started any investigation into the case. “We don’t have enough resource to investigate. We are dependent on the investigation of CIB. We will take action only after CIB submits its report,” shared ArunJha, one of the members of probe committee formed by Province 2 government.

Meanwhile, National Private and Boarding School’s Organisation Nepal has requested the government to punish those who are responsible for the question paper leak.

President of N-PABSON Ritu Raj Sapkota said students of Province 2 should not victimised. She also said the government should ensure that the results of all the provinces would be declared on same date even though there would be some delay in concluding exams in Province 2.
