Clamour for reconstructing Dharahara
KATHMANDU: Academicians and experts have pressed for reconstructing the Dharahara landmark terming it Nepal's identity.
At an interaction over the historic landmark held by the Nepali Sculpture Art Expert Society here on Friday, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor Jivraj Pokharel presented a working paper and called on the concerned authority to reconstruct Dharahara terming it as Nepal's identity.
He underlined the failure on part of the government to heed towards the subject a long time after the earthquake, while adding that the Dharahara's future remained obscure.
Society Chairman Kishor Thapa said the concerned authority must take an appropriate decision on the prospect of the future of Dharahara, which has been reduced to a mere stub.
Historian Mohan Khanal said the Dharahara was an important symbol exuding the identity of Kathmandu Valley and added that it reflected Nepal's important history.
