Close shave for NAC Boeing after hydraulic system failure
KATHMANDU: A Nepal Airlines aircraft on Tuesday made an emergency landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport after it suffered a hydraulic system failure while in the air.
The Boeing 757 with 156 passengers and eight crew members on board had returned to Kathmandu after it witnessed the failure during its journey to Banglore of India late afternoon today, according to the TIA sources.
Technicians have attributed to the failure to a leakage.
The aircraft piloted by Senior Captain OB Gurung had landed back to Kathmandu at 5:42 pm.
The aircraft had left the Kathmandu Airport at around 2:30 pm and it had witnessed the problem after around 1.5 hours in the sky.
The Kathmandu-Banglore air distance is around 2.5 hours.
NAC spokesperson Ram Hari Sharma told THT Online that the NAC engineers were looking into the aircraft.
The national flag carrier had scheduled a Doha flight with the same aircfraft later today.
