Comedian Chankhe no more

Kathmandu, February 10:

Comedian Gopal Raj Mainali, popularly known as Chankhe, passed away this morning. He was 65.

Mainali, who was suffering from pneumonia, had been undergoing treatment at the Kathmandu Medical College Hospital, Sinamangal, for the last 42 days. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.

His final rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today.

Mainali had been active in Nepali Cine Art Industry since 2014 BS and had acted in more than 60 plays and more than 70 films, including Hijo Aja Bholi, Sindur, Kanyadan, Tilahari, Ke Ghar Ke Dera, Bhagyarekha, Yuga Dekhi Yug Samma, Pacchyeuri and Deuki.
