KATHMANDU, APRIL 8

Prime Minister Balendra Shah told ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions stationed in Nepal on Wednesday that his government is committed to strengthening ties with all friendly nations on the basis of mutual benefit, balanced foreign policy, and shared prosperity.

Addressing a collective courtesy meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), PM Shah said Nepal places high importance on its relations with all countries and remains committed to deepening partnerships guided by the goal of common prosperity.

"Nepal has been pursuing a balanced and pragmatic foreign policy. Our external relations are guided by the goal of shared prosperity," he said, expressing gratitude to all partner nations for their continued goodwill and support for Nepal's development.

The Prime Minister underscored that peace must remain a shared priority given that ongoing conflicts around the world disproportionately affect ordinary citizens. "Ongoing conflicts affect ordinary citizens the most, which is why peace must be our common priority. I trust we all agree on this, and I look forward to collective efforts in that direction," he said.

PM assured the diplomatic community that his government is committed to creating a conducive environment for investment, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable development. He also outlined the government's goal of more firmly integrating Nepal into regional and global economic frameworks in a manner consistent with national interests.

Addressing concerns about political continuity, PM Shah said a change of government does not mean a break from continuity. "A new government does not mean a departure from continuity. We are firmly committed to maintaining political stability and keeping policy direction stable and predictable," he said.

The Prime Minister said the government is keen to advance cooperation across a range of areas including development, trade, investment, climate action, and people-to-people relations, and reaffirmed that the safety and welfare of Nepali citizens abroad remains a top government priority.
