Committee formed to monitor floods, rescue victims

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Irrigation on Wednesday formed a seven-member committee for inspection of floods after a nationwide torrential rainfall over the past few days.

According to Umesh Kumar Yadav, Minister for Irrigation, the committee formed under the convenership of Pradeep Pathak, Deputy Director General of Department of Water Induced Disaster Prevention, will inspect the flood conditions and rescue the victims.

The committee was formed after Minister Yadav discussed with top officials of the Ministry the situation after reports of floods from across the nation.

Floods had affected lives and properties in various districts yesterday.
