Consensus must for polls, says Singh

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh has said that local bodies’ election was not possible without political consensus.

While inaugurating a-two-day training organised by Skilled Human Resource Development Centre in the capital on Thursday, Singh urged the government to forge consensus for the local elections.

Singh, also a former minister for local development, said that his party was in favour of going ahead by preparing work schedule for the election of local, federal and central bodies after formulating essential laws.

He also urged the government to create an environment conducive to talks with Tarai-centric parties.
