'Country cannot progress amidst political instability'

KATHMANDU: Newly elected Nepali Congress general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala said that the country could not develop amidst political instability.

Acknowledging congratulations and best wishes extended him by the Nepal Students Union (NSU) at his residence in Maharajgunj on Thursday, he said that the country might get into trouble if the instability in politics continued. The NSU is the student wing of the Nepali Congress.

"None of us should practise the politics of instability. Stability is required for the development of the villages and towns. The country cannot develop until there is political and social stability. So, the youth should be involved for bringing in prosperity to the country," he said.

Koirala said that the NSU which is committed for the political and social change should play a special role in bringing in the youth generation to the leadership responsibility by pursuing the educational issues.

The newly-elected party general secretary also stressed that holding the NSU's convention will be on the top of the priority list once the party's Central Working Committee gets full shape.
