Couple stabbed to death

Kathmandu, January 3:

Two persons stabbed a couple — Natikaji Subedi and his wife Sanu — to death at their rented flat in Sitapaila this evening, police said.

One of their sons, Bilab, who was also stabbed by the two persons, is undergoing treatment in the Bir Hospital. According to police, Bilab is in a critical condition.

According to the police, 43-year-old Subedi was watching television in his bedroom. His wife was washing utensils when the armed two persons broke into the ground-floor flat.

They went to Subedi’s bedroom and stabbed him. Sanu came to the room as she heard

her husband screaming. The assailants stabbed her too.

“I was in my room when I heard my father and mother screaming. I rushed to the room and saw my parents lying in a pool of blood. The assailants also attacked me,” 15-year old Bilab said. Bilab is a ninth-grader at the Gems School.

Neighbours brought them to the Bir Hospital. The Subedi couple was declared dead on arrival. Bilab is undergoing treatment, police said, adding that he is in a critical condition.

Purushottam Subedi, an uncle of the deceased, said the 43-year-old was running the Kantipur Sawmill near his rented house for over 20 years. The Subedi family hails from Morang district.

Subedi’s 11-year-old son was in another room when the incident occurred.

Police suspect that a person, whom Subedi had fired two months ago on the charge of stealing goods from the sawmill, was involved in the murder of the Subedi couple.
