KATHMANDU, APRIL 28

The exponential rise of COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu valley has continued yet another day on Wednesday as the valley recorded cases in excess of 2000.

According to the data made available by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 2,047 cases have been recorded in Kathmandu valley today -- including 1,464 in Kathmandu, 351 in Lalitpur and 232 in Bhaktapur.

Such high figures were recorded on the eve of issuance of prohibitory orders which will come into effect on Thursday in all three districts.

The nation-wide COVID-19 tally on Wednesday remains at 4,447 with the valley making up for almost half of those cases of the infection.

Previously, 1900+ freshly reported cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Kathmandu valley for two consecutive days wherein 1,996 cases were reported on Tuesday while on Monday the valley had witnessed 1,912 cases.

In the wake of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the authorities' have recommended an additional week of prohibitory orders to be brought into effect in the three districts of the Kathmandu valley as opposed to the announcement of one week of national lockdown with effect from Thursday.
