KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 7

The district administration authorities of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have decided to incorporate changes in the ongoing modality of regulatory measures to check Covid-19 spread, beginning today.

Firstly, the odd-even rule for private vehicles and taxis in Kathmandu valley has been lifted as of today.

The limitation was lifted following a meeting of the valley's three Chief District Officers on Sunday.

Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the valley, the Covid-19 Crisis Management Coordination Centre implemented the odd-even rule for all vehicles in the Kathmandu valley on January 22.

However, the three DAOs rescinded the rule for public transportation on January 29 in response to widespread criticism that public transportation rationing did not help to control the spread of Covid-19 but instead became a hotspot for the virus's propagation.

Likewise, the meeting also decided to allow educational institutions to resume physical classes from February 13 while adhering to health and safety protocols.

Meanwhile, in the case of classes for students under the age of 12, schools have been directed to hold the classes alternately in shifts.

The meeting also decided to allow night businesses, including dance bars and clubs, to operate until 10 pm from February 13.

However, all forms of rallies, meetings, and festivals remain prohibited until another notice is issued by the officials.
