The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has called back ministers belonging to its side from the Cabinet led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The decision was taken by the standing committee meeting of CPN-MC held this morning at Paris Danda, the Centre's party office in Kathmandu.

CPN-MC has given 24 hours for the ministers to return.

Among the ministers called back are Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa; Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Top Bahadur Rayamajhi; Minister for Water Supply Mani Chandra Thapa; Urban Development Minister Prabhu Shah; Minister for Youth and Sports Dawa Lama Tamang; and Minister for Labour Gauri Shankar Chaudhary.

Meanwhile, the party has sought clarification from 23 leaders who were nominated as central members of CPN-UML by PM Oli yesterday.

Prime Minister Oli, on Friday, had called a special meeting of CPN-UML's central committee and removed leaders of the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction from key responsibilities that they held before the party's merger with CPN-Maoist Centre.

In the same meeting, the establishment faction of CPN-UML inducted 23 members in its 242-member central committee. All of them were previously associated with CPN-MC.

Today's standing committee meeting of the Maoist Centre also decided to call its central committee meeting on Sunday.
