KATHMANDU, APRIL 18

The CPN-MC called its standing committee meeting to discuss, among other things, the issue of withdrawing support to the government.

CPN-MC Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the party would take a call on the issue after discussing it on Monday. The CPN-MC and the UML had unified to become the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), but the two became separate parties after the Supreme Court nullified their unification on March 7.

The CPN-MC's continued support to the Oli government has jeopardised formation of the new government, as the Nepali Congress and the Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal suspect its intention. Both have told the CPN-Maoist Centre to withdraw support to the government before beginning the process of forming the next government.
