CPN MC's Sashikala Dahal, NC's Binda Devi Ale to vie for NA vice chair
KATHMANDU: CPN Maoist Centre leader and lawmaker Sashikala Dahal and Nepali Congress leader Binda Devi Ale today have registered their candidacy for the election of National Assembly Vice Chair.
Spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat Bharat Raj Gautam said that candidates filed their nominations for the election of NA Vice Chair taking place tomorrow.
According to Spokesperson Gautam, NC leader Badri Prasad Pandey proposed Ale's nomination, while the party's leader Sarita Prasain seconded it. Likewise, former spokesperson and leader of CPN MC, Dinanath Sharma proposed Dahal's nomination, while CPN-UML's leader Dil Kumari Rawal seconded the proposal.
Earlier, the NA meeting on Wednesday decided to hold election of NA vice chair on March 18, while the nominations were decided to be filed between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on the previous day.
Of the 59 seats of the NA, UML and CPN MC have 39 seats, Nepali Congress 13, while Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal have two seats each.
Three NA members were appointed by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the recommendation of the government.
