CPN-ML lauds republic declaration
Kathmandu, May 31:
The politburo meeting of Communist Party of Nepal-Marxist Leninist (CPN-ML) concluded that Nepali people gained epochal achievement after the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) declared Nepal a federal democratic republic.
It extended hearty congratulation to all Nepali people for the historic feat.
In the press statement issued here today after the completion of a two-day politburo meeting, the CPN-ML paid homage to martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in the eight-decade-long movement for the establishment of democratic republic.
Stating that cooperation of all political parties and people is inevitable for the success
of federalism, the meeting of the party also underlined the need to tackle the existing political problems with coordinated efforts of political parties and people.
It is the need of the country to forge consensus among the political parties for the appointment and allocation of posts of president, vice-president, prime minister and Constituent Assembly chairperson on the way to implementing the republic, the statement
further said.
“If political parties fail to reach consensus, these officials should be elected with the 51 per cent majority of the Constituent Assembly members and the interim constitution amended accordingly,” the release stated.
