UML agrees to resume House

KATHMANDU: Three major political parties have agreed to resume the parliament proceedings that was disrupted by the UML lawmakers for the past some days.

A meeting of the top leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Centre and CPN-UML held at the office of the Speaker in Singha Durbar this morning made a consensus to resume the House meeting.

The parties came to the consensus after the ruling parties agreed to form a parliamentary panel to probe the alleged irregularities in the first phase of local level elections, withdraw the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice and not to give pardon to the guilty of the Tikapur incident.

After the meeting, UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the House meeting would resume from today itself after the ruling parties agreed to address the UML's concerns.

He also said that discussions were held regarding the formation of the national consensus government as well. The CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli have made an understanding to move ahead based on consensus in the meeting.
