60 two-wheelers stolen in a week
KATHMANDU: The traffic police have received 60 complaints of motorcycle theft over the past week throughout the nation. The Kathmandu Valley alone reported 50 cases. According to Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, on an average four motorcycles go missing in the Valley everyday. Between January 2 and 8, 50 motorcycles were stolen from the Valley, eight from the western region and two from the east. As many as 30 stolen two-wheelers were recovered during the period -- 20 in the Valley, 5 in the east, 4 in the central region and 1 in the mid-western region.
Fake jewellry
KATHMANDU: The police on Sunday apprehended Nawaraj Sunar and Shyam Sunar, both hailing from Makwanpur, with fake jewellry. A large catch of brass ornaments were found hidden in a Kathmandu-bound vehicle from Makwanpur in course security check in Farping, Kathmandu. The police are investigating into the case to know the motive behind carrying fake ornaments.
Assailant held
LALITPUR: The police on Sunday arrested Suji Maharjan (30), residing at Lachhitole in Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City, after he was found guilty of attacking Sushil Shakya (33) with an earthen idol. Maharjan had allegedly attacked Shakya on January 15 after a heated argument. The injured has been undergoing treatment at Alka Hospital, local police said.
Two found dead
KATHMANDU: Two persons were found dead at separate places in Kathmandu Valley on Sunday. Sachin Rai, 42, hailing from Kalingpong in India was found dead on his bed in a school building. Rai was working as a teacher at the Kamalnetra Chunamuna Higher Secondary School at Bhimsengola. Elsewhere, the dead body of a man in his 30s was found at Tushal. The police are investigating into the causes of the deaths.
