Murder accused arrested
Kathmandu: The investigation branch of the Valley Police apprehended a Tibetan citizen on charge of killing a 69-year-old woman in Bouddha some one and a half week back.
"Lakpa Lama, 21, was arrested from near the Casino Anna yesterday on suspicion of killing Tuin Lama, 69," Binod Singh, superintendent of police at the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), said. The police team from the VCIB arrested him following a tip-off from regular informants. "The overall investigation had been zeroed in on Lakpa, who is a cousin of the deceased, after he was learnt to have been staying in Nepal for about four years without a job," Deg Bahadur GC, deputy superintendent of police at the VCIB, said. The body of the woman was discovered in Bouddha, Kathmandu metropolitan city-6, on February 24.
The police seized 25 coins of Anna Casino each worth Indian Currency Rs 100, Rs 6,000, four tolas of gold bangles and coral jewellery, Krishna Adhikari, sub-inspector of police, said.
The police have taken permission from the Kathmandu district court to keep him in custody for seven days to file a murder case against Lama. — HNS
Nabbed with heroin
KATHMANDU: The police arrested a person with 8 gm of heroin on Monday. "Ramesh Ale, 33, was nabbed from Pipalbot, Dillibazar, Kathmandu metropolitan city-33, when he was taking the narcotic drug," inspector Kiran Jung Thapa said. — HNS
