Crown Princess opens hospice at Gokarna

Kathmandu, January 19:

Crown Princess Himani today inaugurated the Sonja Kill Memorial Hospice at Gorkarna.

The 43-bed rehabilitation centre aims to provide residential service, regular counselling and treatment facilities to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

The hospice was built with the financial support of Sonja Kill Foundation (SKF), Germany, which provided Rs 4.1 million. The Sonja Kill Foundation and Children Missionary Germany provided Rs 30 million, according to a statement issued here today.

It said, the hospice also has separate units to provide services to tuberculosis patients, MDR TB and Hepatitis patients. The centre will also provide Anti Retro Viral drugs to PLWHA, which was provided from Maiti Nepal earlier.

State Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Durga Pokharel, founder of SKF Dr Kill and, president and director of Maiti Nepal Anuradha Koirala and Biswa Ram Khadha respectively were present on the occasion.
