CDC to develop curriculum for ayurveda, yoga

Kathmandu, August 3

National Curriculum Development Board and the Evaluation Council have agreed in principle to develop curriculum for ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy.

According to Curriculum Development Centre Director Deneral Krishna Prasad Kapri, 70th meeting of National Curriculum Development Board and the Evaluation Council has decided to give green signal  to develop the curriculum for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy.

Kapri informed that students of Grade IX and XII can choose these subjects as technical subjects. Following the decision, CDC has even started work on developing the curriculum. These subjects will be introduced in Grade XI and XII from the next academic session.  “There are 283 schools in the country that have introduced technical subjects. If more schools want to introduce these subjects, we will grant permission,” he informed. The curriculum will be developed as per the policy guidelines of the council.

Executive Director at the National Ayurveda Research and Training Centre Dr Siddhartha Kumar Thakur said the council had taken the right decision.

“This will promote utilisation of natural resources, reduce poverty and create more employment opportunities in the country,” he added.
