KATHMANDU, APRIL 30

The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested Rishikesh Gauli on charges of unauthorised access to the government's e-Government Procurement system and document forgery, in a case that has drawn in 13 suspects including ten construction businessmen.

Gauli, 70, is a permanent resident of Ratnanagar Municipality-12, Chitwan, and currently lives in Budhanilkantha Municipality-9, Kathmandu. He is the director of Aashish Construction Services Pvt. Ltd.

According to the bureau, Gauli gained unauthorised access to the Public Procurement Monitoring Office's e-GP system and altered financial proposal documents of various contractors-specifically manipulating documents before the official opening of financial bids. The case was registered under the Electronic Business Act, 2063, following a complaint filed with the Cyber Bureau.

Gauli was arrested on Wednesday from Old Baneshwar, Kathmandu, with authorisation from the Kathmandu District Court.

In connection with the same case, a total of 13 individuals have been taken in for investigation, including 10 construction businessmen.

Further investigation is ongoing under the Organised Crime Prevention Act, 2070, the bureau confirmed.
