Dahal-Nepal faction to seek clarification from prime minister

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 15

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal today decided to seek clarification from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for acting against the party’s objectives, goals, programmes, and statute.

NCP Standing Committee member Bhim Bahadur Rawal today told mediapersons after the Standing Committee meeting that the party body also decided to take necessary action against party General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Paudel for anti-party activities.

Earlier, the party had removed Oli from the post of party co-chair.

Oli, however, claims that his faction is the authentic NCP and Dahal-Nepal faction’s decision to remove him from the post of party co-chair was not based on party statute.

Rawal said the Standing Committee warned Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, who is in India, against signing any deal with India, as he was part of a caretaker government. He said the government’s decision to initiate talks with India at this stage raised suspicions.

The committee also condemned the government’s decision to allow Zee News Editor Sudhir Chaudhary to shoot footage from Everest base camp and advocate changing the name of Mount Everest.

The party decided to launch a massive protest in Kathmandu on January 29.
