Dashain concludes with Kojagrat Purnima celebration

KATHMANDU: Nepal's greatest and longest annual festival Dashain, or Badadashain, concluded on Saturday as Hindus across the nation observed the Kojagrat Purnima, the final day of 15-day celebration.

This is the final day for receiving Tika, Jamara and Prasad from seniors and relatives.

Nepalis, in general, receive the Tika from seniors of their family on the Vijaya Dashami day, the 10th day of the festival, and continue it with other relatives for next five days.

The Ghatasthapana is the first day of Badadashain festival.

Also, on the Kojagrat Purnima, the full moon day, devotees pays homage to Laxmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Socially, the day also marks beginning of preparations for the next greatest festival Tihar, which is just two weeks away.
