Decision on taxi fares upheld
Kathmandu, November 1:
The Supreme Court today upheld a two-year-old decision issued by the Patan Appellate Court on taxi fares. The decision had directed the government authorities and the Taxi Entrepreneurs Association to systematise taxi fares.
A division bench of Justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and Kalyan Shrestha issued the order. The bench directed the Bureau of Standards, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the Department of Commerce, the Police Headquarters,
and the Valley Traffic Police Office and the Association to systematise the operation of taxies.
The appellate court, responding to a PIL, had directed the authorities to review the taxi fare, post the fare in hoarding boards in public places and provide bills compulsorily to consumers.
