Deepak Manange sent to jail

KATHMANDU: Absconding convict Rajib Gurung, also known as Deepak Manange, who was arrested on Thursday, has been sent to jail today.

Metropolitan Police Office spokesperson Mohan Kumar Thapa shared that Manange was presented at the Kathmandu District Court and sent to Dillibazaar jail as per the court's verdict.

Earlier in January, the Supreme Court (SC) had convicted Manange in an attempted murder case and sentenced him to five years imprisonment. He was on the run since the Apex Court upheld the Patan Appellate Court’s verdict to jail him for five years in an attempted murder case.

Manange had won the PA seat from Manang in the provincial election. He would have been disqualified from contesting elections had anyone filed a complaint citing his conviction during the Provincial Assembly elections.
