KATHMANDU, JUNE 17

Despite it being already a week since this year's monsoon entered Nepal, the monsoon system is advancing at a slow pace, and it could take around a week or more to reach nationwide, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Senior Meteorologist at the Department, Prativa Manandhar, stated that currently, the monsoon is active in the northern and eastern parts of Koshi Province, with most districts in the province receiving rain.

Manandhar mentioned that it might take several more days for the monsoon to arrive in Kathmandu due to its slow speed. "It is moving westward, but at a very sluggish pace," she added.

She further explained that it could take two to three days to reach Kathmandu and an additional five to seven days to extend to Sudurpaschim Province.
