KATHMANDU, JUNE 14

This year's monsoon is expected to become active in some parts of the Bagmati Province, including the Kathmandu Valley, from tomorrow, Saturday.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, although the monsoon has already entered the country via the Koshi Province, it takes several days to reach the Valley.

Meteorologist Saroj Pudasaini stated that the arrival of the monsoon in the remaining parts of the country is delayed due to the partial influence of westerly winds and a low-pressure system centered around Bihar State in India.

Tentatively, the monsoon is expected to spread to western Nepal a week after its arrival in the eastern part of the country, but this time the advancement is hampered by the influence of the low-pressure system in India.

According to the Division, there is partly to generally cloudy weather in Karnali Province and the hilly regions of Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province, with partly cloudy to mainly fair conditions in the rest of the Provinces tonight.

Light to moderate thundershowers are expected at a few locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, and at one or two locations in the remaining parts of the country.
