Kathamandu, December 15:

Traffic movement in Lalitpur was disrupted today as locals protested against the killing of a motorcyclist Mukunda Thapa by a truck yesterday evening at Balkumari, Lalitpur. Traffic flow in ring road as well as Kavre and Bhaktapur was also disturbed due to the protest.

A truck collided with a motorcycle coming from Koteshwor yesterday. “The truck driver backed the truck and rammed into Thapa who fell on the road,” Arjun Karki, Thapa’s relative, said adding: “Then he died on the spot”. Police have arrested truck driver Shyam Bahadur Khatri. Sanubabu Thapaliyas, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said that the police is trying to hold dialogue between the victim’s relatives and the truck driver as well as the truck owner. The victim’s relatives are demanding compensation as well as stern action against the driver.
