Democracy fighter Uprety passes away
KATHMANDU: Democracy fighter Krishna Bhakta Uprety of Dhading passed away while receiving treatment at the Vayodha Hospital in Kathmandu on Sunday morning. He was 71. He was arrested when he was 15 along with the Nepali Congress vice-president Ramchandra Paudel while protesting the autocratic Panchayat rule. He spent three years in jail. Uprety was also the former president of Nepali Congress Naubise Village Working Committee. He played an active role in various struggles for restoration of democracy in the country. He is survived by a wife, two sons and three daughters.
