Kathmandu, December 12

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development has written to the Ministry of General Administration, requesting it to depute civil servants to village development committees in earthquake-affected districts.

The request to this effect was made as per the secretary-level decision of the MoFALD on Thursday. The MoFALD had sought the help of the MoGA to depute civil servants to VDCs of 12 districts as the VDCs are without secretaries. The districts include Gorkha, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Lalitpur, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli and Makwanpur. “We request you to depute civil servants to VDCs,” an excerpt of the letter read, adding, “The delay in filling up the post of secretaries lying vacant in the VDCs is likely to have adverse effects on the recovery, reconstruction and relief distribution works in the earthquake-affected districts.”
