Detainees file complaint against murder convict

Kathmandu, August 26:

A group of detainees at the Charkhal Detention Centre yesterday filed a complaint at the Home Ministry, the Office of the IGP, the Prison Management Department and the Valley Police Office, asking for the transfer of Deepak Magange, a murder convict at the centre.

The group said Manange intimidated and beat other prisoners.

“He is threatening the jailer saying he has the power to transfer him. He says he was responsible for the transfer of a DSP of the central jail who was against him,” the complaint said. According to the complaint, Manage asked other convicts to follow his orders. “He threatens to take action against those who oppose him.” Sanandan Prasad Kurmi, spokesperson, Valley Police Office, said that they would start an investigation if they found the plaint genuine.
